Innovative Technology Solutions Help Achieve Mercy Ship’s Mission Around the Globe

As the world’s largest civilian hospital ship, Mercy Ships faces a wide variety of special needs, including being able to work with limited internet connectivity in remote areas of the globe. Upp Technology’s ability to adapt to those needs, and rich history and expertise in the health care industry has made the two companies a perfect match in helping Mercy Ships achieve its mission.

Upp Technology is proud to provide innovative solutions that adapt to the unique circumstances and needs of Mercy Ships. The organization utilizes Upp Technology’s software products and consulting services to ensure that the critical supplies necessary for treatment can be easily and transparently mobilized from around the globe.

Mercy Ships provides charitable medical procedures to underdeveloped countries on Africa’s western coast. Since its founding in 1978, Mercy Ships volunteer doctors and crew members, of which there are currently more than 1,200, have performed more than 61,000 life-saving surgeries, and positively impacted the health of more than 2.35 million people. One port visit alone of just a few months can lead to curing nearly 1,000 people of blindness related to cataracts. The hospital ship has also been a great training ground for some of our nation’s leading doctors and nurses to perfect their craft.

You can learn more about Mercy Ships and its mission in the following feature from the CBS show 60 Minutes. The subject material can be difficult to watch at times, but the stories of help from Mercy Ships show just how amazing and vital the work its volunteers are to the African west coast:

Join Mercy Ships to provide hope and healing to the world's forgotten poor.

Every year, 6 million children die from preventable diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia. Teens, adults, and the elderly also die from curable diseases because they have no access to a hospital or doctor.

Your donation can help Mercy Ships reach these people — more than 75% of the world’s population lives within 100 miles of a port city. Our volunteer doctors perform:

  • Transformational surgeries that reduce the effects of neglected disease and congenital conditions
  • Dental care, reducing the incidence of disease
  • Eye care, restoring sight to the blind and reducing poor vision due to cataracts
  • Training programs that build the capacity of local professionals for long-term care

Mercy Ships has provided healing and for more than thirty years. Your donation provides healing and hope to those who are hurting and forgotten.
